Geraldine Dorfi has been painting for about 15 years after her teaching career of 34 years. Painting in the abstract has captured her imagination. Abstract art is a non-representational art form rendered without the use of a visual reference.
Additionally, she paints impressionist landscapes and seascapes, often using thick, quick and often messy brush strokes. Her creative expression is achieved through the use of colors, textures, shapes and composition. Geraldine creates compositions using her intuition, exploring her creative and emotional energy. Her mediums include oil acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and
cold wax.
Geraldine is a member of Foothills Art
Association. She has shown her work in galleries and venues throughout San Diego and has received several awards.

The nine paintings below were inspired by a 2022 visit to the Sea of Cortez at Loreto Bay, Nopolo Beach, Mexico. The first four represent the landing on the peninsula by the Jesuit missionaries with the hope of expanding the Catholic Church of Spain.

The three paintings below were influenced by the walls of the Mission Loreto church courtyard built exclusively by the labor of the native peoples of Loreto. The walls are made of quarried limestone, basalt, brick and an eclectic mix of stone brought in from the hillsides. The colors in the painting represent the colors in the wall.
